Our Privacy Promise

SignupGadget is built on a foundation of privacy. We believe you should be able to coordinate events without sacrificing your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use SignupGadget, you may provide:

  • Event details — Title, description, date, time, and location of events you create
  • Names — The name you enter when signing up for an event (you can also sign up anonymously)
  • Wishlists — Gift preferences for Secret Santa exchanges
  • Messages — Optional messages left with RSVPs
  • Organizer passwords — Passwords you set to manage your events

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Email addresses — We never ask for or store email addresses
  • Phone numbers — We don't collect phone numbers
  • Account information — There are no accounts, so there's nothing to collect
  • Payment information — SignupGadget is free; we don't process payments

Automatically Collected Information

Like most websites, our servers automatically log basic information including:

  • IP address (anonymized)
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and time spent
  • Referring website

We use privacy-focused analytics that do not track you across websites or create advertising profiles.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to:

  • Display event information to you and other participants
  • Enable sign-ups, RSVPs, and Secret Santa assignments
  • Allow organizers to manage their events
  • Improve our service based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not:

  • Sell your information to anyone
  • Use your information for marketing
  • Build profiles about you
  • Share your information with third parties (except as required by law)

Data Storage and Security

Your event data is stored on secure servers. We implement appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction of data.

Organizer passwords are stored securely. Join passwords for private events are also protected.

Data Retention

Event data is retained as long as the event exists. Organizers can delete their events at any time, which permanently removes all associated data including sign-ups, RSVPs, and participant information.

We may periodically remove old, inactive events to keep our systems clean.

Cookies

SignupGadget uses minimal cookies:

  • Dark mode preference — Remembers if you prefer dark mode
  • Organizer sessions — Remembers you're logged in as an organizer for your events

We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies for advertising purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Analytics — Privacy-focused analytics to understand how people use our service
  • Advertising — We display ads to support the free service. Our ad partners may use cookies; see their privacy policies for details.
  • Google Maps — Location links open in Google Maps

Children's Privacy

SignupGadget is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the event data you've created
  • Delete your events and all associated data
  • Sign up anonymously for events
  • Remove your sign-ups from events
